To qualify, students must meet the minimum admission requirements for their chosen program. The PLAR process acknowledges prior learning and experience, allowing students to receive up to 50% credit for both. Detailed PLAR Process International or Out-of-Province Learning and Experience Self-Assessment and Analysis Conducted by QCT College faculty. In addition to the college’s skills assessment, applicants must complete a self-assessment interview, listing course learning outcomes and rating their proficiency in each area. Internationally trained candidates must submit evidence of their training that meets QCT College’s standards. Creation of an Individual Study Plan Based on the self-assessment, QCT College identifies any knowledge or skill gaps and creates a tailored study/training plan for the candidate. Challenging the Course’s Written Exam If the self-assessment shows thorough competency and knowledge, the student may challenge the course exam in a proctored environment at QCT College, requiring an 80% grade to pass. Self-Study/Online Study (or Site-Based Workshops) If the student does not pass the challenge exam or requires additional training (as indicated by a score of 70-79% on the initial test or by the self-assessment), they will be provided with a self-study or online module for further training. Lodging a complaint will have no adverse consequences on the status of the complainant in their course or program of study. Student complaint policies and procedures apply to individual or group complaintsAll formal written complaints should be addressed to the registrar listed below. Complaints must be initiated within 14 days of the event that led to the complaint. The student should first approach the instructor with an informal verbal complaint if it's related to study or schedule. If the concern(s) cannot be resolved the student can then escalate the informal verbal complaint to the Program Coordinator. If no resolution is accomplished at the Program Coordinator level the student will be required to submit a formal complaint in writing to the Registrar of QCT College. Within 10 days of receiving the complaint, a meeting will be arranged between the student, instructor, Program Coordinator, and the Registrar of QCT College. (This meeting may also be attended by the Academic Lead if it involves Academics, and by the HR Representative if it is of an HR nature). The student may be accompanied by an advocate of their choice at all stages of the complaint process and this person may take oral submissions on behalf of the student.
